IN MEMORY OF MOHAMMED YOUNIS MBE

Yesterday marked one year since the passing of Mohammed Younis MBE, founder of Alma Hospital Trust.

To mark the occasion, family, friends, hospital staff, patients and members of the local community gathered at Alma Bi Hospital in Pakistan to remember his life and offer prayers in his memory.

Looking at the photographs from yesterday, one thing stands out above all else: the work continues.

For more than a decade, Mohammed worked alongside friends, family, supporters and fellow trustees to raise the funds needed to build Alma Bi Hospital. Named after his mother, Alma Bi, the hospital was created to provide free healthcare to people who would otherwise have little or no access to medical treatment.

The hospital opened in 2007.

Nearly two decades later, it continues to serve thousands of patients every year.

Mohammed was recognised with an MBE for his charitable work, but those closest to him know that his greatest source of pride was never the recognition. It was the hospital itself and the people it served.

The gathering held yesterday was a powerful reminder that his legacy is not confined to memory. It lives on through every patient treated, every family supported and every member of staff who continues the work he helped begin.

The hospital continues.

The patients continue to arrive.

The staff continue to serve.

And lives continue to be changed every day.

That is the legacy of Mohammed Younis MBE.

May Allah grant him eternal peace and the highest place in Jannah.

Ameen
