annual eye camp
For nearly two decades, the Alma Hospital Trust has delivered a free annual eye camp, restoring sight to thousands of patients who would otherwise live with preventable blindness. Patients travel from across the region, sometimes over one hundred miles, to access specialist diagnosis and treatment unavailable to them elsewhere.
Over the course of just a few days, dedicated medical teams treat hundreds of patients for serious eye conditions. Life-changing cataract surgeries restore independence, mobility, and the ability to work and care for family.
Alongside eye care, patients also receive treatment for dehydration, typhoid, hepatitis C, and other conditions identified during screening. This is a free eye camp where every patient is treated with care, dignity, and respect. The programme stands as a testament to experience, coordination, and generosity. Donor support makes this work possible, transforming lives not temporarily, but profoundly and permanently.
community outreach camps
Each year, the Alma Hospital Trust organises free medical outreach camps across remote villages in Hafizabad, reaching patients who are unable to travel due to distance, cost, or physical limitation. These camps are designed to serve the most vulnerable, people for whom untreated illness can threaten livelihood, mobility, or life. Alongside medical consultations, medicines, diagnostic tests, and referrals, outreach teams deliver health education and preventative care, particularly for mothers and children. Sessions focus on maternal health, nutrition, hygiene, chronic disease management, and early identification of illness, sharing knowledge that empowers families to protect their health beyond the duration of the camps.
Patients commonly present with high blood pressure, diabetes, respiratory infections, fever, and heart conditions. Where specialist care or surgery is required, patients are identified and supported through the hospital system. Outreach work reflects the Alma Hospital Trust’s belief that care must travel to those who need it most. With continued donor support, these camps combine treatment, education, and prevention, strengthening health outcomes across entire communities.
MATERNITY CARE
An essential and vital resource, maternity care is a core priority for the Alma Hospital Trust. In a region like Hafizabad, childbirth can carry serious risks without access to skilled medical support. Complications that are routinely managed elsewhere can become life threatening for both mother and child, particularly where poverty, distance, and limited access to health education intersect. The Alma Hospital Trust provides comprehensive maternity services including antenatal monitoring, emergency intervention, safe delivery, postnatal support, and ongoing health education for expectant mothers. Care is delivered by experienced clinical teams in an environment that prioritises privacy, dignity, and reassurance. Clear communication and calm professional care help families feel supported at one of the most vulnerable moments in a woman’s life.
Stories like Fouzia’s, where swift medical response and coordinated care saved both mother and baby, reflect what becomes possible when preparation meets presence. Each safe birth strengthens families, protects futures, and reinforces the hospital’s role as a trusted place of care within the community. This work is sustained through donor partnership, ensuring women receive the care they deserve, free and without condition.
CRISIS RESPONSE ACTION
Pakistan has faced repeated climate emergencies in recent years. Historic flooding in 2022 affected more than thirty three million people nationwide, overwhelming infrastructure and healthcare systems. When severe flooding returned again in 2025, communities faced renewed displacement, illness, and loss. In both moments, the Alma Hospital Trust mobilised experienced teams to the frontlines, working alongside the Pakistani military, local authorities, and fellow organisations to deliver urgent medical care.
Patients presented with malnutrition, infectious disease, respiratory illness, and untreated injuries, conditions requiring swift and coordinated response. As climate change increasingly shapes how communities live and work, its impact on health, income, and stability grows more severe. Families are forced to adapt to disrupted livelihoods and heightened vulnerability. The Alma Hospital Trust’s role, grounded in experience and preparedness, remains essential, ensuring care reaches those most affected as conditions continue to change.
