The much publicised floods have struck the area around the hospital. Torrential rain has fallen every day for the past eight days, causing the large canals running through the region to swell and burst their banks.
The Alma Bi Hospital is gearing up to help the local population in its hour of need. There are no reports of drownings directly due to the water. However, water borne diseases will be an inevitable consequence of standing lakes in a hot, humid climate. The hospital staff are ready to treat outbreaks of cholera, dysentery and other common illnesses as they arise.
