Welcome

The Alma Bi Hospital operates in District Hafizabad, Pakistan. It's an amazing place that treats thousands of poor people each year for free. It owes its existence to Mohammed Younis (MBE), a remarkable man who spent ten years campaigning to raise the £1,000,000 it cost to build. It's now a unique haven of western medicine amidst rural poverty, serving a population of around 150,000 people.

The work of the hospital is funded entirely by charitable donations - not a penny comes from government. Whilst this ensures its integrity and high standards it also creates constant pressure to keep the hospital running.
